ExpertLab is a simple in use but specialised expert system, focused on observing the tests results produced in the laboratory department.
It is used in many cases like:
- in order to help medical perosnel deciding about produced results conflicts, based on the parametrical rules predefined by the user
in order to produce automatically diagnosis reports or conclusions based on sets of test results
to activating predefined procedures when certain conditions are met like automatic repetition of tests which have abnormal or conflicting results
To set various haematological parameters based on the measured values of blood analysis, like the haematological analysers’ flags
The rules are set by responcible personel in a parametrical way, through a specially designed screen.
They are of the following form:
- If the test X meet conditions X1,X2,....Xn (which are defined) and the test Y meet conditions Y1,Y2 etc then note «discrepancy of tests X and Y».
- If the tests A, B,....Z meet the conditions a,b,....z, then «set Flag X as TRUE and flag Y as FALSE».
- If the tests A,B, ....,Z meet the conditions a,b,...,z, then «produce a conclusion printout containing specific text» etc
The system, thanks to its parametrical features, offers the ability of setting safety regulations, which protect the laboratory from producing false results. At the same time, it warns the responsible users about any problematic situation, in order to proceed to a more profound control or tests reexaminations. Finally, it can help the laboratory doctors through the automatic procedure of creating text reports, conclusions, warnings or proposals.
